Man its cold out there! and steelhead are there if your willing to tough it out,that being said fishing mid day on cold days and planning the trip to fish the warmer days will get you into fish.

we have been fishing egg nymph combos and catching fish but when the water doesn’t warm at all fishing gets tough, try hairs ears nymphs,nuke eggs in bright chartreuse and orange colors ,trout beads in natural colors as well as smaller black woolly buggers. Streamer selection has been about the same leech patters and olive sculpins type flys. good luck out there and be safe! swimming in the winter is the worst.

Winter weather showed up a couple of days ago but the air temp isnt really all that bad. steelhead fishing on the Perte Marquette river has been good and there are still a good number of fish around. I walked in the other day for a hour or so and hooked one briefly on the swing so that made me plenty happy, the flie patters are bpretty standard, hairs ears , hex nymphs and nuke eggs or halo eggs. Streamers theat have been working for me are basicly leach type patterns tyed with a little flash and in olive or black.

We have plenty of winter dates open and are offering our off season rate of 280.00 for a full day of fishing. Drop me a e-mail or give me a call if you want to get out on the river ,there is no better way to spend a winter day!

Pere Marquette steelhead

steelhead fishing continues to be good with steelhead holding in there winter patterns,the pere Marquette is looking good with a slight stain in the lower river and clear in the upper stretches,hex nymphs, hairs ears and egg patterns in clown and orange with egg halo have all produced well last week and as for swinging steelhead were real grabby and multiple fish hook up were the standard last week with black leech style streamers and olive with gold flash feenstra style streamers getting the majority of the pulls. fishing with hill brand tackle jigs have also been productive with the swamp donkey style jig really working well

Steelhead fishing here on the pere Marquette continues to be good with swinging streamers being a solid choice for excitement! we received some good rains the other day and that will move the fish around a bit but there are still a lot of fish in the system and steelhead are staying hungry,late this week we are expecting some cold weather and that will put these fish into winter mode. egg patterns in clown and chartreuse and cream were good producers as for streamers blacks and any variation of leech pattern were good producers.

with a warmer than normal fall so far steelhead fishing here on the pere Marquette river has been good,We seem to be getting pushes of fish every few days and if you hit those day right double digit numbers on fish can be possible. last weeks hot bite came about every other day and on the in between days 3-4 hookups were expected,as soon as the water cools down a few more degrees the bite should taper off and be way more predictable as fish will move into there winter holding areas.as for flies last weeks winners were nuke eggs in cream and cheese ,hex nymphs as well as swung streamers,and depending on what section of river you were fishing the streamer color ranged from natural sculpins and leaches with little flash all the way to opposite spectrum of bright, gaudy and flashy. get out and enjoy the weather it will turn snowy soon and then the fun really begins

Pere Marquette steelhead report

The steelhead fishing here on the Pere Marquette continues to be good to great,the water is cleared and fish have went back to there traditional holding areas,the bite has been good all day and egg flys are still taking a majority of the fish, but for those of you that like to swing streamers you will be happy with the results,streamers are getting bit real well and it is almost to the point of getting spoiled! egg colors for me that are working are oregon cheese nuke eggs,yolk colored trout beads, clown eggs and leech style streamer with gold flash. I still have some openings for the remainder of November and December if you feel the need to get you steelhead fix give me a call.

Swinging streamers is getting better every day

The heavy rain that we got last week here on the pere marquette really scattered the fish thru out the river system, fresh steelhead are moving in everyday but wth the high water and tea stain the fish can and are holding anywhere that they want. fish that were hooked this week came from inside seems and current breaks and with the water starting to clear and drop expect fishing to pick back up in “normal” holding areas. flys from last week that produced were dead egg colored beads and bright nuke eggs,the streamer bite was there and Kevin’s basic bucktail streamer was the fly of choice this week, this is a great fly and can be tied in a multiple color combos and sizes.

The pere Marquette is still fishing great with fresh runs of wild steelhead moving up river with the recent weather change.Like is always the case some stretches of the pere Marquette are fishing better than others, at this point the middle sections, the fly water and some of the lower river is fishing good,flies of choice have been egg pattern under indicator, standard steelhead nymphs and streamer(both swung and stripped) have been producing. Trout beads have also taken a few fish and streamer fishing is really getting better every trip. Its shaping up to be a great fall/winter here in northern Michigan! I have a few open dates left if you want to try your hand at some of the falls best fishing.

steelhead fishing here on the Pere Marquette river remains good with steelhead spread out through the whole system,Swinging streamers on spey rods has been getting better with the king salmon dying off, egg patterns are still taking good numbers of fish. trout beads and otter eggs have been real good and will continue to be good till water gets real cold.

Pere Marquette Is Looking GREAT!

We finally got a much needed rain! With that rain, the river came up and LOTS of Kings came with it. More are coming in right now. Yesterday was a great day on the river, today was even better!

Swinging big flashy flies over gravel has been the most productive. The water is a bit off color, so you have to know where the gravel is. If you are new to the river, stick with flies that are big and flashy and you should be fine.

Put the floro away. The water is a bit off color, so you can get away with 12 lb. Maxima.

The fishing will only get better. If you can do it, get here NOW!
